The "2024 Global Steel Summit" organized by the UAE Steel Conference Services Company (STEELGIANT) and the Metallurgical Industry Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) was held in Dubai, UAE on September 10-11. Nearly 650 delegates from 42 countries and regions including China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Türkiye, Egypt, India, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Belgium, the United States and Brazil attended the conference. Among them, there are nearly 140 representatives from China.
Su Changyong, Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of Metallurgical Trade, delivered a keynote speech titled "Updates and Outlook of the Chinese Steel Industry" at the opening ceremony of the conference. This article introduces the operation of China's steel industry, the progress made in technological innovation, digitization, and low-carbon green transformation, and the prospects for maintaining long-term stable and high-quality development.
Representatives of industry associations, steel enterprises and consulting institutions from China, the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, India, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and other countries and regions also came to the stage to make speeches on topics related to the operation of the global steel market, the supply and demand trend of iron ore and scrap, pipe products and consumption. During the same period of the conference, group discussions were held on the topics of hot-rolled plate, coated plate, and long steel products market analysis, and the Saudi Arabia Investment Forum was also held.
During the conference, the organizer presented the guest of honor trophy to Li Maojin, Chairman of Tianjin Youfa Steel Pipe Group Co., Ltd. Chinese companies attending the meeting include Ansteel Group Co., Ltd., CITIC Taifu Special Steel Group Co., Ltd., Guangdong Lecong Steel World Co., Ltd., Shanghai Futures Exchange, etc. The meeting was co organized by Türkiye Cold Rolled and Coated Plate Association, International Pipe Association, United Arab Emirates Steel Association, Indian Steel Users' Federation and African Steel Association.
