Manufacturing Process:
Pre-Galvanizing: This involves rolling the steel sheet through a molten bath of zinc before it is shaped into pipes. The sheet is then cut to length and formed into pipe shapes.
Coating: The zinc coating provides a protective barrier against moisture and corrosive elements, extending the pipe's lifespan.
Properties:
Corrosion Resistance: The zinc coating acts as a sacrificial layer, meaning it corrodes first before the steel underneath, providing protection against rust and corrosion.
Cost-Effective: Compared to hot-dip galvanized pipes, pre-galvanized pipes are usually less expensive due to the streamlined manufacturing process.
Smooth Finish: Pre-galvanized pipes have a smooth and consistent finish, which can be aesthetically pleasing and functional for certain applications.
Applications:
Construction: Used in structural applications such as scaffolding, fencing, and guardrails due to their strength and durability.
Limitations:
Thickness of Coating: The zinc coating 30g/m2 on pre galvanized pipes is generally thinner compared to hot dip galvanized pipes 200g/m2, which can make them less durable in highly corrosive environments.
Cut Edges: When pre galvanized pipes are cut, the exposed edges are not coated with zinc, which can lead to rusting if not properly treated.
